Today, Yo La Tengo’s undeniable classic 1997 album I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One is a quarter of a century old. To celebrate, a digital deluxe version of the album is released today offering a smorgasbord of extras: the band’s 1997 Peel Session featuring live takes of “Autumn Sweater,” “Shadows,” and a 9-minute pass through “I Heard You Looking,” as well as remixes of “Autumn Sweater” by µ-Ziq, Kevin Shields, and members of Tortoise, many of which have not previously been made available for streaming. “I remember that I wanted it sounding pretty organic, which is why I recorded it to a cassette and pitched it about a bit,” recalls µ-Ziq’s Mike Paradinas. “It really is all over the place.”
